PARK MANAGEMENT.

In September 2008, the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber signed a contract agreement with the City of Tacoma to manage Tollefson Plaza. The Chamber does not receive income from the City for their management services. Tollefson Plaza Management is a not-for-profit entity that derives funding from sponsorships and rental space revenue.

Two Chamber staff members form Tollefson Plaza Management: Joanne Buselmeier, the Chamber’s Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber Finance and Administration Manager, supervises the running of the Plaza; and Vy Dotson, Tollefson Plaza Coordinator, tackles general duties needed for rental reservations, marketing, and event planning.

Now that the Chamber has taken an active role in giving the Plaza a soul, they hope to build its popularity and visibility as the center of Tacoma’s civic life.
